My Story

Hello! My name is Aida M. Toro and I am a Jersey bred writer who considers New York City home and loves cultivating stories within the human interest, fashion, culinary, beauty, and overall lifestyle verticals.

I focus on covering long form human interest features, fashion & style, beauty, fitness & wellness, as well as dining and mixology. Therefore, you’ll currently find my work on publications such as Real Homes, Edible Manhattan, Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam, Hobnob, The House Magazine, NOW LA Magazine, The C-Word Magazine, and DOGPOUND’s Crush It! Magazine. Prior to these esteemed print and digital publications, I wrote for NY Gal, Northjersey.com, The Girls Soccer Network and others.

I’ve also extended my love for the written word via copywriting. For the past year and a half, I’ve been the go-to copywriter for Schutz, where I’ve crafted compelling copy across all marketing channels, including website copy, email campaigns, social posts, digital ads, and product descriptions. Recently, I re-did the whole brand’s SEO and crafted the verbiage alongside the e-comm team for the brand’s recently rolled out rewards program.

Before landing this role, I served as a junior copywriter for boutique public relations agencies, where I’ve drafted press releases and creative strategies for clients, ideated and executed campaigns, edited social and web copy, blog writing, managed SEO and more.

As for my education, I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Journalism from New Jersey City University (NJCU) in 2012 and a certificate in Media Writing Essentials through the New School x The Rolling Stones Magazine in partnership with Yellowbrick in 2023.

As an extension of my writing portfolio, I’ve curated a monthly newsletter titled “What’s the Scoop"?”, where I’ll share updates on my latest work, information on events, mini nutgraphs spotlighting creatives and upcoming tastemakers, and more with my readers.

During my time away from my MacBook, pen, and paper, I am either walking around the city by myself and taking random street photos with my iPhone or Nikon , going out with my family and friends for brunch, lunch, or dinner, dancing by myself at home (or) with friends at a chic cocktail lounge, walking my dog Benji, meditating, journaling, and performing some of the most extraneous workouts over at any Lifetime Fitness Club in Manhattan or DOGPOUND.
